Someone who can take me out on a regular basis during the day to reinforce house training
Hello, my name is Harry. I am a 5.5-year-old, 20-lb male ShihTzu mix. I came to SBRET when my owner could no longer take care of me. I am a very chill boy and a little timid, but I have liked everyone I have met - humans and other dogs (I have not met any cats). I follow my foster mom around the house and love sitting on her lap when she is working from home at her desk or napping on the couch. I enjoy going for short walks around the neighborhood and walk well on a leash. I also like playing fetch with my foster dad.
I am doing ok with house training. My foster mom has noticed that I am picky about where I potty outside and have had a few accidents in the house. I have only been in my foster home for a short time - my foster mom thinks that I will eventually get it with the house training business and my new owner just needs to get me in a good routine. I ride well in the car and want to jump in when foster mom opens the car door. At night, I sleep in a crate next to my foster parents' bed, although I would probably like sleeping on the big bed with my humans if they want me to.
The vet said I am in great health. I have luxating patellas (slippy knees) but they don't bother me at all. I just need to stay at a good weight, which is where I am right now. I have sebaceous/fatty lumps which the vet checked and he said they are not a concern. I don't shed much but I will need regular professional grooming. I have been neutered, microchipped, and am current on vaccines and heartworm/flea prevention.
