Someone home at least part of the day; I get lonely
Hello, my name is Nutmeg. I am a 5-year-old, 10-lb female Chihuahua mix with
beautiful natural eye liner! I came to SBRET from an area shelter and I know it's hard to believe a cutie like me would find myself in that predicament!
I’m a sweet, quiet girl who will enjoy being right next to you every minute
you’re home. My favorite thing is to burrow under blankets and sleep close to
you. It may take a few days to warm up, but I will attach to my new family
quickly. I’m friendly with strangers, but I will prefer my family. My foster
parents call me a nervous Nelly but once I warm up, I love to cuddle and be loved on.
I walk really well on a leash and enjoy afternoon walks, but for the most part
I’m a big couch potato. I get cold very easily so I might need a warm sweater.
I tend to shake when I’m cold or excited. I love my kibble (with a little bit of
topper) and low-calorie treats are a must!
I will try crate training if you’d like but I really love to sleep snuggly in a big bed
with my people. My foster parents leave me in a room with a window while
they’re away with two other small dog friends. I do just fine while they are
gone. I’m doing exceedingly well with house training. As long as I’m taken out
and have plenty of potty breaks, I will do my business outside with no
problems.
I get along with other dogs just fine and would do best if it is a low-key dog like me or I can also be without another dog. I prefer to eat my meals away from other animals as I’m very food motivated so I can become very excited at meal
times and sneak food from the other dogs’ bowls. Because I’m so laid back and
calm (some might even say lazy), I’d prefer a house with kids 10 years and
older who can understand how to give me space and treat me gently.
I cried during my first car ride, but as soon as I got a doggy booster seat, I
snuggled in and relaxed during additional car rides.
I had to have my teeth cleaned and one tooth extracted at the vet but I am
doing well and eating my hard kibble again just fine. Otherwise I am very
healthy. I am spayed, up to date on shots, flea and heartworm prevention, and
ready to find my forever home! My adoption fee is $175.
