Q: I have a
motherboard that supports IrDA. Which product I should choose from
you?
A: We have
two products that support on-board IrDA I/O controller. They are
IR-210L and IR-2000L. The 210L is an infrared motherboard adapter
which operates on Serial infrared (SIR), which means speeds up to
115.2Kbps. The 2000L is also a motherboard adapter which supports
Fast infrared (FIR), which means speeds up to 4Mbps.
Q: If my
motherboard just support SIR, can I use IR-2000L?
A: Yes, our
IR-2000L supports both SIR and FIR. You can connect IR-2000L as SIR.
After you upgrade your motherboard, you can use IR-2000L for FIR.
Q: If my
motherboard doesn’t support FIR, do you have any other product can
support?
A: Yes, we
have IR-2000B that is ISA add-on card. It can be use with IR-2000LC
for FIR speed up to 4Mbps. IR-2000B uses National Semiconductor Inc.’s
PC87108A I/O chip. It supports SIR, MIR, FIR, CIR, 500 kHz ASK. It
has 3 connector on the back panel: DB-9F, DB-9M, mini-DIN-8.
Q: What kind of
operating systems I can use for these IrDA products?
A: Right now
you can use Windows 95 and Windows 3.1 for these IrDA products.
Microsoft will release Windows NT 5.0 Workstation that is include
IrDA driver soon.
Q: How can I set up
my motherboard in BIOS?
A:
Motherboard used UART 2 as infrared communication port. You need to
set to HPSIR for SIR, HPFIR for FIR and HALF DUPLEX mode.
If the
problem is still unsolved, please contact ACTiSYS technical
