ACT-IR210L Trouble Shooting Guide

This Windows 95 application note is the trouble-shooting guide for using ACT-IR210L infrared motherboard adapter. Before contacting ACTiSYS technical support group, please read this guide carefully and follow the steps to check the system.

  1. ACT-IR210L only supports IrDA standard 1.0, the speed up to 115.2kbps. If the motherboard can support IrDA standard 1.1 fast infrared, the speed up to 4mbps, please contact our sales to order ACT-IR2000L instead of ACT-IR210L.

On ACT-IR210L side, the pin assignments are: Green-IRTX, Yellow-IRRX, Black-GND, Red-VCC.
  3. Please check if the infrared connector is enabled or disabled on the motherboard. For many motherboards, you may also need to setup it in BIOS setup utility. Please refer to the manual of the your motherboard.
  4. Make sure the Microsoft infrared Communication Driver 2.0 has been installed correctly on the system. If the driver needs to be reinstalled, please remove the previous one, first, through Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
  5. During setup the driver, the "Built-in Infrared Port on Laptop or Desktop" in "Standard infrared devices" should be selected for the hardware type. Do not select any hardware type under "ACTiSYS" for ACT-IR210L.

Please enable the infrared driver on both PC's
