TIME TO APPLY FOR HISPANIC COLLEGE FUND (HCF) SCHOLARSHIPS!
The Hispanic College Fund, officially opened the scholarship applications (a day early!) for the 2008-2009
academic year, and everyone must apply! If you are a current scholarship recipient, you also need to
re-apply in the same way you did before.
Check out http://scholarships.hispanicfund.org/applications/ to start your application!
Do you have questions? Most of your questions will be answered when you log onto our website including
instructions, eligibility criteria or requirements, deadlines and more. When you create a profile you will also
be able to see the FAQ (frequently asked questions). Please look through the info on the site including the
FAQs before you email or call. Application season is one of our busiest times, so please keep that
in mind when you are waiting for an answer to an email or phone call.
Here are a couple important deadlines (please check the rest by going to the website and clicking on
eligibility and deadlines):
February 1st: NASA MUST deadline
March 15th: HCF scholarship deadlines (this includes most programs, so please check online for the other
deadlines)
April 15th: The Sallie Mae First in My Family deadline (all majors)
We also like to introduce you to our new Scholarship Program Manager, Ms. Auri Duarte. You may have
already met her when you've called in or wrote message center about scholarships! She has been an
amazing support of the Hispanic College Fund for a year, and she has worked on almost all
Hispanic College Fund projects. She is very well qualified for this position, and we hope that you get to know
Auri very well throughout the scholarship application process. You can reach her at

As for me, I will still be with HCF, so if you are a scholar who has questions about your current 2007-2008
scholarship, Cathy Juarez (hcfstaff01@hispanicfund.org) or I will be able to help you. The new year
will commence my new position as the Alumni Program Manager, a brand-new position created to expand
our scholar/alumni programs. This includes the Hispanic Young Professionals leadership program,
www.hcfconnections.org, Latinos on the Fast Track (LOFT), overseeing the HCF Alumni Advisory
Committee and all projects related to alumni. If you are a current scholar or alumni interested in playing a
leadership role, please let me know! I will be contacting those interested in the upcoming year. I hope you
join us!
